Annie Neil

Vocalist and WAAPA lecturer Annie Neil is a stalwart in the Perth Jazz scene. Annie is a founding member of the vocal group the "Jazz Divas" and was also the female lead in the rock musical "Hair", both in Australia and New Zealand, following her role as the female lead in the London Production of "Jesus Christ Superstar".

She was the vocal coach on the WA production of "Bran Nue Dae" and has performed on several occasions with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Annie has been involved in recording work in London and turned with Steely Dan and Kikki Dee. She had a number one hit with her own group Fancy in the USA and has worked as a backing vocalist for artists such as Denis Waterman (soundtrack of Minder), Charles Aznavour, Roger Daltry, Jack Bruce, Sheena Easton and a multitude of others. Annie has appeared in the Dublin Theatre Festival opposite Colm Wilkinson (Adam and Eve).

Early in her career she appeared in the BBC TV series "We The Accused", opposite Ian Holm shortly before returning to Australia, Annie recorded the soundtrack for the series "Shaka Zulu". She declined the offer to appear in the West End stage production to return to Australia with her son.

Since returning to Australia, Annie has performed with many visiting artists such as Lou Rawls, Tom Jones, Dionne Warwick, Joe Longthorne and James Brown.

Annie has recently performed in her one woman show "Heart And Soul" and recently released a live recorded album from a recent concert at the Perth Blues Club.
