Kim Wainwright

Kim Wainwright - guitar exponent, songsmith, vocalist & instrumentalist from Perth, Western Australia delivers a dynamic solo acoustic live set with masterful skill, expression and conviction. He's hard to pigeonhole and able to weave seamlessly between musical genres such as blues, folk rock, soul, country rock and pop.

Kim has been touring Australia performing a stripped back solo show comprising acoustic guitar & vocal, embellished with acoustic stomp box and occasional harmonica. The sound is remarkably rich, fluid and full due to his well honed fingerstyle technique and 40+ years of habitual guitar playing. He takes his audiences through a musical rollercoaster ride, one moment playing a folk rock ballad in the 70's singer/ songwriter era style, the next - an infectious groove laden dance tune or footstomping blues standard.

A lifelong musical journey which started in the 1970's has found Kim sustaining himself professionally as a performing musician since the 1980's and guitar teacher since the 1990's. His career has seen him play in all types of bands - both original and cover, and more recently as a solo artist. Highlights include lessons with legendary Californian guitarist John Heussenstamm (1980), performing with "The Prefects" who had appeared on "Countdown" national TV music program (1985), recording a no. 2 single on the Australian independent charts with "The Zoo" (1986), busking and gigging through Europe (1989 - 1991), performing at Bridgetown Blues Festival WA with "The Bluetonics" (2001) and recording a track for release on "The Six String Superhour CD" featuring prominent Perth guitar players (2003).

Living an enviable lifestyle of travelling and playing music all around Australia and sometimes overseas has left Kim with a healthy respect for his audiences, an insatiable appetite for music and a driving ambition to continue performing and evolving as a musician for a long time to come.
