Marcio and Ben's Duo Sao Paulo is a new band featuring multi instrumentalist/singer Marcio Mendes and drummer/percussionist Ben Vanderwal.

These guys play samba, the rhythms of North East Brazil, Sting, Bob Marley and everything in between. Blending electronic sounds with acoustic vibrancy, these two have a natural chemistry that is infectious.

Marcio Mendes - Marcio hails from Sau Paulo, Brazil's largest city. He has played music professionally since his early 20’s and has performed with highly respected names of the Brazilian music scene such as Djavan and iconic samba and pagode bands from Brazil such as Mundo do Samba, Arte Popular and Negritude Junior. He has entertained crowds as large as a hundred thousand people in Brazil, Europe and Australia with the artists Leandro Learte and the pianist Tania Maria.

Ben Vanderwal - Ben is one of the most in demand Jazz drummers in Australia. He has performed around the world including tours of the U.K., France, Ireland, India the U.S.A., China, Korea, Taiwan, Phillipines. Japan, New Zealand, New Caledonie, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China and Thailand. Ben has played with John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Charlie Haden, Howard Levey, Madeleine Peyroux, James Morrison, Chris Potter, George Garzone, Kate Ceberano, Mark Murphy, Ernie Watts, Lionel Rose, David Campbell, Rhonda Birchmore, Nigel Kennedy, Don Burrows, Deborah Byrne and Normie Rowe.
